Craziness...
Look at me... posting TWICE in a WEEK!!! :)
Needless to say things have been crazy and busy and great. The kids are in the full swing of school and fall activites... soccer practices and games, jump rope practices, Faith friends (church group), play rehearsals, field trips, sleepovers, playdates, preschool, homework, etc. Whew!!!
Ryan has been working like a dog, insane night shifts... 3pm - 3am, sleeps until about noon and starts over again... and he's only off Thursday and Friday. No, not very helpful but we love on him when we can and wake him up too often and too early sometimes because we want to be with him. I keep telling myself it's just temporary (about 6 weeks) and at least he's HERE (sort of).
I have been working a lot extra lately, too. My kids have never seen so many babysitters! I have several different classes going on right now and and writing curriculums for a couple more. Unfortunately, some of them happen on the weekends which would be okay if Ryan were home to be with them. Then again, if he were off on the weekends we'd be at the lake!!! One thing I love about my job is that I get to take the kids with me much of the time. We sponsor a lot of community kid-friendly events. If I show up and introduce the guest speakers my kids get in and participate for free... plus I get paid. Sweet.
Next weekend... I think we'll go to the Corn Maze/Pumpkin Patch on Saturday and then run/walk our legs off on Sunday during the Race for the Cure. Dixie is coming in and Beth will be there and Keri and many friends. Our team has raised close to $2000.00. Awesome!!! That night is the Trunk or Treat at church. We're decorating our car like a luau and making the kids/parents do the limbo if they want candy!! HAHA!!! I'm gonna be wiped, but I'm SOOOO looking forward to ALL of it!!

Amazing girl
Delaney is such an amazing child. Amazing in ways that I can't even explain! Of course, all my kids are... amazing. All the time;) But Delaney has been exceptionally amazing lately. There are millions of reasons she is so amazing, but here are a just a few recent ones...
It was her idea to run the Race for the Cure 5K with me. She's even been training with me. She has raised lots of money... all by herself.
Last week she tried out for the jump rope team. And MADE IT!!! She practiced and practiced and practiced this ridiculously difficult routine. She'll be performing it next weekend!!
She is the STAR goalie for her soccer team. Another parent on the sidelines said it this morning... "Man, she ROCKS!!!" She does. A ball rarely gets past her. Even those flying right at her face. I you know her, you know that means she's done a complete 180 when it comes to flying balls;)
And the big one... the one that sparked a blog post, so you know it must be big;) She loves theater. She decided not to do the Slidell Little Theater Christmas play this year because she really wants to do the one at church... because she fell in love with a certain part, Cora May. She REALLY, REALLY, REALLY wanted the part. She has been in several plays in the past, but not a lead part with lots of lines. But, like I said, she REALLY wanted this part so she was determined to go for it. Well, Weds. after school she decided to learn a monologue for try-outs that were at 6. I told her it probably wasn't a good idea. It wasn't enough time to get comfortable with it... but she insisted. The child that rarely insists on anything so I let her. The director just asked for them to say a couple memorized lines or sing a song... but she insisted on this monologue. Well, it didn't go well. After the first few words she got flustered. She tried again and again. Then she started crying... a frustrated, mad, embarassed cry. It was pure torture listening through the door. I just wanted to feed her the next line... but knew I couldn't. After a few deep breaths she sang her favorite song from choir and walked out. Devastated. Ugggh. What a tough life lesson. She was so distraught. She was so mad and disappointed at herself. After a while in her room at home she came to me and asked me if I would take her back the next day (there was 1 more day of tryouts). I said "yes" but told her honestly that I wasn't sure a second audition would matter. She said "I know, but I want to go anyway". I left the room with my eyes filled with tears. What a proud moment. She wasn't going because she'd be begging the director for the part, but because she wanted to prove to herself that she really could do it. I have no words for that. She is the opposite of me as a child and I am in awe of her strength. So, the next evening we went back... and I must say, she ROCKED that audition!!! I just received an email letting her know she got the part she wanted!!! YAY! The sucky thing is she's at a sleepover for her friend Delana's birthday (yes, her best friend's name is Delana;) and they are at the lazertag place and I can't get her on the phone right now. I can't wait for her reaction. She's going to be so surprised...
I am amazed. That she came from me. That's just it... she didn't. She came from God. He has blessed me with such and amazing little person. She opens my eyes wider every day.
